Jessica lives in Victoria where she works as an independent director/choreographer and teaches contemporary/jazz at the Canadian College of Performing Arts. She is also the Co-Artistic Director of Open Pit, a Yukon, not-for-profit, devised theatre company. Jessica just finished working in Drumheller, Alberta as the Crowd Director for The Canadian Badlands Passion Play. The set was an outdoor amphitheatre seating 2,700 people, and she was working with a cast of 200 people, 3 horses, 6 sheep, and donkey. You may have seen Jessica’s choreography in A Christmas Carol, Let Me Call You Sweetheart, and Goodnight Desdemona (Good Morning Juliet) (The Belfry Theatre), and Smalltown: The Pickup Musical (Theatre SKAM). Her directing credits include Thoroughly Modern Millie (VOS), Leave a Message (après le bip) (Nakai Theatre), and ALICE: A Staged Reading (Sum Theatre). Jessica is also currently developing a new puppet show with Ramshackle Theatre. In May, she spent two weeks with the company at the Banff Centre for the Arts building puppets, and in August travelled to Whitehorse to workshop the production at the Yukon Arts Centre. Jessica’s company Open Pit also just received funding from Canada Council to develop a new Yukon verbatim play based on over 300 interviews conducted across the territory.
